AUDIO COMPARISON

Relative level, not absolute volume

Every round has its own baseline. The two tones share the same pitch, so only their relative loudness determines the answer.

The game uses short, conservatively leveled sounds. Keep your system volume comfortable and never raise it to an uncomfortable level.

ACCESSIBLE FALLBACK

Muted play uses visible meters

The intended challenge requires sound. If you mute the game or Web Audio is unavailable, the interface explicitly switches to VISUAL FALLBACK.

In fallback mode, the baseline and second-tone meters show the same relative level change, and assistive text announces the comparison.

QUESTIONS

Loud or soft sound test FAQ

Why do I press play every round?

Browsers restrict unexpected audio. Starting each pair with a click, tap, or Space keeps sound under your control.

Can I play while muted?

Yes, using the labeled visual fallback. For the intended auditory challenge, turn sound on and use a comfortable volume.

How does endless mode get harder?

The loudness difference gradually narrows and the answer timer shortens. One wrong answer or timeout ends the run.

Is a louder tone unsafe?

The game keeps its generated signal conservative, but your device controls final output. Set a comfortable level before playing and stop if sound feels uncomfortable.
