TEMPORAL ANTICIPATION

What does this rhythm reaction game test?

Instead of reacting after a cue, you predict when the next cue belongs. The task combines interval tracking, attention, and precisely timed movement.

The standard sequence balances five slow, five medium, and five fast rounds. Audio hardware and display refresh can affect timing, so compare runs on the same device.

Smaller timing error is better

Timing error is the absolute distance from the expected fifth beat. Standard mode counts an attempt within 180 ms as on beat and labels wider misses as early or late.

Endless mode begins with the same fair window, then gradually tightens toward 90 ms. The first miss or timeout ends the run.

QUESTIONS

Rhythm timing game FAQ

What counts as on beat?

In standard mode, landing no more than 180 ms before or after the expected fifth beat counts as on beat.

What do early and late mean?

Early means you responded before the expected beat; late means you responded after it. The displayed number is the absolute timing error.

Can I play with sound muted?

Yes. Each beat has a synchronized visual flash. Sound improves the rhythm experience but is not required to play.

How does endless mode work?

The tempo continues to vary while the on-beat tolerance gradually shrinks. Your first off-beat response or timeout ends the run.
