BILATERAL SPEED

What does alternating tap speed measure?

The test challenges rapid left-right coordination, rhythm control, and the ability to inhibit a repeated input.

Your correct-tap count rewards speed, while the wrong-order count shows whether that speed stayed controlled.

READ YOUR RESULT

Count first, speed and errors for context

Standard mode ranks the number of correct alternating inputs completed in 20 seconds. Taps per second is based only on correct inputs.

Endless mode raises the required tempo by shortening each level window. One wrong-side tap or an incomplete quota ends the run.

QUESTIONS

Alternating tap speed test FAQ

Which keys should I press?

Use A for the left side and L for the right side. On a phone or tablet, tap the large left and right zones instead.

What happens after a wrong-order tap?

Standard mode adds an error and keeps the expected side unchanged. Endless mode ends immediately after the first wrong-side tap.

What is a good alternating tap score?

Use your first complete run as a baseline, then compare correct taps, taps per second, and errors under the same 20-second conditions.

Why does endless mode have a timing bar?

The bar shows the window for the current quota. It gets shorter as levels rise, requiring a faster alternating rhythm.
