READY?

SINGLE = ONE · DOUBLE = TWO

Use Space, Enter, a mouse, or the large tap pad. Keep double inputs no more than 300 ms apart.

For DOUBLE, both inputs must land before the main timing bar ends and no more than 300 ms apart.

HOW TO PLAY

Match the number of inputs to the prompt

  1. 01

Start the test and wait for a bright SINGLE or DOUBLE prompt.

  2. 02

Respond once for SINGLE. Respond twice for DOUBLE, with no more than 300 ms between inputs.

  3. 03

Finish before the timing bar empties. Standard mode continues after errors; endless mode ends on the first mistake.

What does a double tap reaction test challenge?

The prompt changes the action you need from round to round. You must read the cue, select one or two inputs, and execute that response without adding or missing a tap.

That makes this a playful test of reaction speed, action switching, and input control. It is a recreational game, not a medical or diagnostic assessment.

Reaction time ends on the last required input

A SINGLE reaction is measured at your first input. A DOUBLE reaction is measured at your second input. The game still waits briefly after one input so it can tell a true single from the start of a double.

Standard mode gives every player the same mix of 8 SINGLE and 8 DOUBLE rounds. Endless mode starts with 2.00 seconds and shrinks the main window toward 0.55 seconds while keeping the 300 ms double interval fixed.

QUESTIONS

Double tap reaction test FAQ

How do I respond to SINGLE and DOUBLE?

Use the large response pad, a mouse, Space, or Enter. Input once for SINGLE and twice for DOUBLE. Two different allowed keys also count as two inputs.

Why does a single response take a moment to confirm?

The test reserves a 300 ms interval to see whether another input follows. Your measured SINGLE reaction time remains the time of the first input, not the end of that waiting interval.

What happens if the main timer ends after one input?

One timely input completes a SINGLE prompt. It is incomplete for a DOUBLE prompt, because the second input also has to arrive before the main timing bar empties.

How does endless mode get harder?

The main response window falls from 2.00 seconds toward 0.55 seconds as your streak grows. The maximum gap between the first and second input stays fixed at 300 ms.

Can I use this reaction test on a phone?

Yes. The large response pad supports touch, mouse, and keyboard input, and the layout is designed to fit screens as narrow as 320 pixels.
