VISUAL REACTION SPEED

What does Whack-a-Mole test?

The changing target trains visual detection, spatial choice, and a quick motor response. Each new mole can use any of nine positions, so you must react instead of memorizing a pattern.

Hits, wrong holes, and timeouts all advance immediately. Your result combines total hits, accuracy, average correct response, and fastest hit.

Fast hands still need accuracy

Average and best times use successful hits only. Accuracy compares hits with every target shown, including wrong holes and moles that escaped.

Screen size and input delay affect measured reaction time. Compare attempts on the same device with the same input method for a useful benchmark.

QUESTIONS

Whack-a-Mole reaction test FAQ

How is reaction time measured?

Timing starts when the mole appears and stops when you choose a hole. Average and best reaction time include correct hits only.

What counts as a miss?

Choosing an empty hole is a miss. Letting the target deadline expire is a timeout. Both lower standard-mode accuracy, and either one ends an endless run.

How do the number keys map to the holes?

Keys 1–3 select the top row, 4–6 select the middle row, and 7–9 select the bottom row. Each hole also displays its key.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The nine large holes adapt to narrow screens and support touch. Desktop players can use a mouse or the 1–9 keys.
