VISUAL SEARCH SPEED

What does Target Search test?

You hold a target description in visual working memory, scan distractors, and map the matching position to a response. That combines attention, recognition, and choice reaction speed.

Every item combines shape, pattern, color, and a readable label. Color is never the only clue, and later Endless rounds use increasingly similar distractors.

Speed counts only when the match is right

Average and best times use correct responses only. Standard accuracy includes all 15 rounds, including wrong choices and timeouts.

Endless score is your correct streak before the first miss. Its window begins at 4.0 seconds and shrinks toward 0.9 seconds as you progress.

QUESTIONS

Target Search reaction game FAQ

How is reaction time measured?

The timer starts when the target and the 4×4 grid appear, then stops as soon as you choose a cell. Only correct response times enter the average.

Does the game rely only on color?

No. Every item also has a distinct shape, surface pattern, and visible short label, so the target remains identifiable without color alone.

How do the 16 keyboard controls work?

Keys 1 through 9 choose cells 1 through 9. Keys A through G choose cells 10 through 16. Each cell displays both its number and key.

What happens after a wrong answer or timeout?

Standard mode records the miss and continues until round 15. Endless mode gives you one life, so the first wrong answer or timeout ends the run.
