PATTERN SCANNING

What does Missing Tile test?

You must detect a break in a structured pixel design, map its position to one of nine responses, and act before the deadline.

The tiles use distinct outlines and geometric marks, so the missing location remains identifiable without relying on color vision.

Fast scanning still needs accuracy

Average and best times use correct answers only. Accuracy includes every wrong selection and timeout in standard mode.

For fair comparisons, repeat the test on the same device and with the same input method. Screen size and input latency can affect times.

QUESTIONS

Missing Tile reaction game FAQ

How is reaction time measured?

Timing starts when the 3×3 design appears and stops when you choose a position. Only correct responses contribute to average and best time.

What happens when I choose the wrong tile?

Standard mode records the miss and moves to the next pattern. Endless mode ends immediately on the first wrong choice or timeout.

Which keyboard key matches each tile?

Keys 1, 2, 3 are the top row; 4, 5, 6 the middle row; and 7, 8, 9 the bottom row. Each tile displays its key.

Does the challenge depend on color?

No. The gap is shown by an empty dashed tile among solid outlined geometric marks, so structure rather than hue identifies the answer.
