FIND THE MATCHING PAIR

Exactly two positions contain the same symbol. Which pair is it?

Keyboard: press 1, 2, or 3 · Touch or mouse: choose a pair option

HOW TO PLAY

Match two positions, not two answers

  1. 01

Scan the numbered board. Every symbol is unique except for one identical pair.

  2. 02

Read the three candidate pairs, then press 1, 2, or 3—or tap the matching option.

  3. 03

Finish 15 standard rounds, or keep an endless streak as the grid grows and the timing bar drains faster.

VISUAL SEARCH

What does duplicate symbol search test?

You must compare several similar visual forms, retain their identities briefly, notice a repetition, and map both positions to a response. That combines scanning, working memory, and choice reaction.

The repeated symbol and its positions change every round. Color does not identify the answer, so the task remains usable when color perception differs.

Speed matters only with accuracy

Average and best times include correct answers only. Accuracy counts all answers and timeouts, preventing fast guesses from looking like reliable performance.

Standard mode always uses six symbols for comparable results. Endless mode adds positions and visual distractors while shrinking the deadline from 3.0 seconds toward 0.7 seconds.

QUESTIONS

Duplicate Symbol reaction game FAQ

How do I answer a round?

Each answer option lists two board positions. Choose the option containing the two identical symbols by pressing 1, 2, or 3, or by selecting it on screen.

When does the reaction timer start?

The timer starts when the symbols and pair options appear together. The timing bar shows how much of the current answer window remains.

What happens after a mistake?

Standard mode records the mistake and advances until all 15 rounds are complete. Endless mode gives one life, so one wrong option or timeout ends the run.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The symbols and three answer buttons resize for narrow screens and can be played entirely by touch. Desktop players can use a mouse or keys 1–3.
