POSITION + SOUND

Two memory samples appear first. Then compare every new pair with two steps earlier.

POSITION
TONE—

Tap an answer or press 1–4. POSITION means only the location matches; SOUND means only the tone matches.

HOW TO PLAY

Compare two signals with N steps ago

  1. 01

Watch the highlighted square while hearing the tone and seeing its four-level visual marker.

  2. 02

After the memory samples, compare both parts of the current stimulus with the one N steps earlier.

  3. 03

Choose NEITHER, POSITION, SOUND, or BOTH before the answer bar empties.

TWO STREAMS

Location and tone together

Each trial combines one of nine locations with one of four tones. A match can occur in either stream, both streams, or neither.

The tone marker mirrors the audio pitch, so muted play follows exactly the same answer rules.

ENTERTAINMENT ONLY

Accuracy before speed

Standard mode uses five targets of each answer type for a balanced 20-round result. Response time is calculated from correct answers.

This is a recreational memory game for personal practice, not a medical, psychological, or cognitive diagnosis.

QUESTIONS

Dual n-back test FAQ

What does 2-back mean?

Compare the current position and tone with the pair shown exactly two trials earlier, not the immediately previous trial.

Can I play without audio?

Yes. The four-bar tone marker provides the same low-to-high identity as the sound. Use the SOUND ON button to mute or restore audio.

How does endless mode increase N?

Endless begins at 1-back and raises the N level after every six consecutive correct answers. One error or timeout ends the run.

Is this a diagnostic assessment?

No. It is an entertainment and practice game, and its result should not be treated as a clinical measurement.
