READY?

READ THE DIGIT. FIND ITS SYMBOL.

The code key stays fixed, but answer-button positions shuffle every round.

MATCH THIS DIGIT?

Keyboard: keys 1–6 choose the currently displayed button positions from left to right. Touch or mouse: tap a symbol button.

HOW TO PLAY

Translate each digit with the fixed code key

  1. 01

Read the large digit and find the same digit in the reference table at the top.

  2. 02

Identify its paired symbol, then locate that symbol among the shuffled answer buttons.

  3. 03

Tap it or press the button-position key shown on it before the timing bar empties.

CODE MATCHING

Why shuffle the answer positions?

The digit-to-symbol code never changes, but button positions do. This keeps the task focused on finding the correct symbol instead of copying the digit directly to the same number key.

Standard mode presents every digit exactly five times, so each code-key pair contributes equally to the result.

ENTERTAINMENT CHALLENGE

Not a diagnostic substitution test

This browser game is for entertainment and personal practice. It is not a validated Digit Symbol Substitution Test or a clinical measure of processing speed.

Practice, display size, symbol familiarity, device latency, and input method can all change a result.

QUESTIONS

Digit symbol substitution FAQ

Does the code key ever change?

No. Digits 1–6 always map to the same six symbols during the game.

Why do the symbol buttons move?

Their positions shuffle each round so you must find the encoded symbol instead of pressing the prompt digit automatically.

How do keyboard controls work?

Keys 1–6 choose answer positions from left to right. Read the small key label displayed on each symbol button.

Is this a clinical test?

No. It is a recreational code-matching game, not a medical or diagnostic assessment.
