HOW TO PLAY

Press the exact opposite direction

  1. 01

Start the game and wait for one large arrow to appear.

  2. 02

Mentally reverse it: Up becomes Down, Right becomes Left, Down becomes Up, and Left becomes Right.

  3. 03

Press the opposite key or touch button before the timing bar empties.

REVERSE THE HABIT

Why is pressing the opposite direction challenging?

Arrows naturally invite a matching movement. This game makes you inhibit that first impulse, translate the cue, and execute the reverse response.

It is a recreational speed-and-accuracy challenge for keyboard or touchscreen play, not a medical or psychological assessment.

Accuracy first, then reaction speed

Standard mode balances all four displayed arrows with five rounds each. Accuracy uses every response, while average and best reaction times use correct responses only.

Endless mode gives you one life. Its response window starts at 1.9 seconds and shrinks toward 0.45 seconds as your correct streak grows.

QUESTIONS

Opposite direction reaction game FAQ

Should I match the arrow?

No. Always press the opposite direction. If you see Up, press Down; if you see Right, press Left.

Which keys work?

Use the four arrow keys or WASD. On a phone or tablet, tap the four large direction buttons.

What happens after a mistake or timeout?

Standard mode records the round and continues until all 20 are complete. In endless mode, either event ends the run.

Are all directions used equally?

Yes. Standard mode contains exactly five Up, five Right, five Down, and five Left cues, shuffled for each game.

What does the timing bar show?

It shows the remaining response window. In endless mode, the bar drains faster as your streak increases.
